The history of the building, and the former gardens, zoo, and amusement park, is a story of growth and change. It is they story of early Denver pioneers -- Colorado had just become a state 15-years before this theatre was built! The theatre began as essentially a tent when the Elitch's Zoological Gardens opened in 1890. It was turned into a legitimate theatre and stars such as Cecil B. DeMille, Edward G. Robinson, Grace Kelly, and Robert Redford, would get their start in acting at this theatre.
Usage Restriction
This is a 135-year old wooden structure, so there are obvious restrictions for any pyrotechnics, but we are happy to discuss any other usage of the building.
