The Citadel

The Citadel is in the geographic center of Colorado Springs, Colorado, the second-largest city in the state. The Citadel is the dominant center in the market and is anchored by Dillard's, JC Penny and Burlington Coat Factory, plus over 150 specialty stores. This three-level, enclosed regional shopping fortress is strategically located at the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Platte Avenue (US Highway 24). Colorado Springs is also the home to the Air Force Academy. Peterson Air Force Base, and Schriever Air Force Base. In 2009, Colorado springs was ranked 1st in America's Best City by Outside Magazine and 3rd in Best Cities for a Housing Recovery by Forbes online. The city's growth has been based on it's natural resources and quality of life resources. The city has diversified it's local economy by attracting many high-technology firms to the region including Intel, MCI, Hewlett-Packard and Oracle.
