Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sean Joseph Salazar Jourdan is based in Denver, Colorado, where he relocated after obtaining his MFA in Film and Video at Columbia College Chicago. Prior to this, Jourdan studied chemical engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia and worked in that field following graduation. Soon after, Jourdan’s lifelong interest in storytelling and human nature led him to Washington University in St. Louis, where he obtained an MA in Drama. His interests shifted from theater to film, where he now works as an award- winning screenwriter and director. Jourdan counts a number of prestigious honors among his accomplishments, including: Stowe Narrative Story Labs Fellow, Cine Qua Non Storylines Development and Script Revision Labs Fellow; Winner, Best Feature Screenplay (Horror) – Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition; Silver Hugo – Chicago International Film Festival; Finalist (Horror) – Nashville Film Festival Screenwriting Competition; CINE Golden Eagle; Top 7 (Horror) – Slamdance Screenwriting Competition; Winner – Inroads Screenwriting Fellowship; Finalist – ScreenCraft Horror Screenplay Competition; and Best Screenplay – LGBTQ Toronto Film Festival.
Amazon currently distributes Jourdan’s short films, which have also played at a number of film festivals worldwide, including the Raindance Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, and Montréal World Film Festival.
His award-winning debut feature film, TEDDY BOY, can be found on iTunes, Amazon, Amazon Prime, and other streaming platforms.
Jourdan teaches screenwriting, directing, and creative media making part-time at the university level, including at the University of Colorado Denver and the University of Colorado Boulder.
