Alec Ybarra is an ARRI Alexa Mini owner-operator and DP specializing in elevated, character-driven narrative and arthouse cinema. Known for leading experienced crews and delivering market-ready workflows, Alec recently lensed The Silicant (2025 Cannes Marché du Film/AFM). One of his previous features is streaming via Indie Rights. Alec is noted for a meditative, minimalist aesthetic, often utilizing the 4:3 aspect ratio to create a textural, sensory experience from LA to Colorado and Peru.
DP on the 25-day feature The Silicant, filmed in Colorado. Managed creative use of the 3-ton G&E package, maintained visual cohesion, led crew and worked closely with the Gaffer, and crafted the visuals of the film to meet the artistic vision of the director and producers. The film went on to receive over a dozen offers for distribution.Have worked in both Denver and Los Angeles on independent films. Experienced in working as DP on sets with some union crew.
